Thank you to our Sponsors
Most Saturdays during the season we put out 5 men’s/boy’s teams which means at least 55 players. In addition, we have 2 lady’s/girl’s teams playing most Sundays as well as a men’s Sunday team. And, if you were to come to the ground on a Saturday morning, you would see a number of adults supervising and schooling up to 50 young boys and girls in the intricacies of the game of cricket. Teaching youngsters at this level also teaches them the skills of playing a team game which could have many benefits in their later life. What a wonderful asset this is for Mildenhall Town.
But all this takes money and effort and that is where our sponsors come in. Did you know that the average match cricket ball costs £35 and more? And to see the delight on a young man’s face when he hits the opening ball of a match straight into the river Lark is a joy to behold. But not by the Treasurer!
If you, or someone you know, would like to be a sponsor, at whatever level you can afford, please do not be backward in coming forward. We need all sorts of help, not just money. We have players who spend a lot of their time keeping our ground up to scratch, and chasing away crows that insist on digging up the outfield looking for grubs, and marking the pitches so that they are ready for play, etc etc. We also need scorers. Cricketers are more interested in playing than scoring but all games need at least 1 scorer per side particularly for the first and second men’s teams, when the league can fine us if we turn up without one.
So if you would like to know more, find a member of the club and tell him or her and they will point you in the right direction.
And finally, a big thank you to the companies who invest heavily in the club, without which we would not be able to survive.
